KEY CLUB OVERVIEW

Key Club International is the oldest and largest service program for high school students. It is a student-led organization whose goal is to teach leadership through helping and caring. Key Club International is a part of the Kiwanis International family programs. Within Key Club, high schools students does numerous community service hours to help their community and the world. It is also to help build leadership skills with other people.
Division 42 West Key Club helps members to volunteer not only to finish their required hours but to have fun while volunteering. We want our members to have a chance to see what is done first-hand, seeing the reactions from the people you helped.

Our organization was the inspired vision of California State Commissioner of Schools Albert C. Olney, and vocational education teacher Frank C. Vincent, who together worked to establish the first Key Club at Sacramento High School in California on May 7, 1925. Female students were first admitted into Key Club in 1976, eleven years before women were admitted to Kiwanis International, our sponsoring organization.

The California-Nevada-Hawaii District is divided into three main levels of governance: district, division, and club. Divisions are placed into regions, groups of neighboring divisions who are partnered together as an alliance for service within their borders. The highest recognized position is the district governor with the lowest ranking being the club bulletin editor. Currently, the district consists of 75 divisions spread throughout the three states. The CNH does a huge event called DCON where every key club division joins in one location to celebrate the accomplishments they have done and to congratulate our LTGs that are being retired and installed.
